new guy with an old traeger

So I came here looking for advice on how to restore this, yesterday was the wash down..

Practice I powder coat or paint.. This would be the 2d fourth dimension. The paint I used is rusting already, and my sanding was pretty poor.. Circular 2!!

Josh

Ok. Then here is the muddied.
I bought this grill 4 years ago or and so.

Last year the thing was really rusty- right on the superlative where the lid hinges are.

And so I decided to repaint.

Didnt final a yr.

Then now I desire to repaint, and repaint that SOB diesel style. Like a jambo or something I would meet at PigFest from Rod at PelletEnvy...

And so I am thinking, what colors would do well. Black of course, but perhaps a bucs theme, with pewter and scarlet to friction match my mancave?

Tin you use a different paint that has a hardener in information technology, like epoxy etc.

Im not touching the interior, unless I accept to do the lid...

A Traeger is 14 guage single wall construction. I accept an 070 nigh 3 years old and since yous tin can crank 1 of these upwardly to 400 degrees and make pizzas I would non recommend that you powder coat unless you specifically have it shot with the 800 degree rated stuff - and no clear coat. It'southward available only in black at my local shop. That style your Traeger will notwithstanding practice everything information technology is supposed to. Edgar is i/two inch ceramic insulated walls so standard powder coat is fine since it'southward rated at 400. Clear as mud?

My feelings are that spit-can BBQ pigment (1200 caste usually) is cheap and so merely bear upon information technology upwards every couple years to keep it looking new.
Investing in some kind of cover if yous keep information technology exterior will pay for itself pretty quick too. :)
